By downloading, installing, or using the Placemark mobile application (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.
Description of Service
Placemark is a historical photo guessing game where players view historical photographs of Sydney and attempt to identify the location and year each photo was taken. The App provides entertainment and educational value by exploring Sydney's visual history.
Use of the App
You agree to:
- Use the App only for its intended purpose of gameplay
- Not attempt to cheat, hack, or manipulate game scores
- Not use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the App
- Not interfere with or disrupt the App's servers or networks
- Not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
Intellectual Property
Historical Photos
The historical photographs displayed in Placemark are sourced from various archives and collections. Many photos are from Wikimedia Commons and are used under their respective open licenses (such as Creative Commons or public domain). Each photo includes attribution information crediting the original source.
You may not download, reproduce, or redistribute the photos from the App except as permitted by their individual licenses.
App Content and Design
The Placemark name and logo are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works without our permission. The game mechanics are not protected by intellectual property laws. Feel free to make your own version of the game under your own brand.
Disclaimers
Historical Accuracy
While we strive for accuracy, the historical information provided (including dates and locations) may contain errors. The App is intended for entertainment and general educational purposes, not as a definitive historical reference.
Service Availability
The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will be available at all times or that it will be free from errors or interruptions. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time without notice.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (if any).
